Hebrews 1:1-4

How’s that for a resume! Here are some bold claims about Jesus:

  • He is the Son of God
  • He’s the ultimate way that God speaks to his people
  • He’s been appointed the heir of all things (it’s all his!)
  • Everything was created through him
  • If you want to see the radiance, glory or exact imprint of God himself you can just look at Jesus
  • His word is what is upholding the very universe
  • He made purification for all the sins of the world
  • And then he sat down at God’s right hand (a place of honor) where he reigns to this day

Colossians 1:15-20

But wait! There’s more to this resume:

  • Jesus is an exact picture of God himself
  • He came before all creation, in fact he’s the reason everything exists
  • He is superior to all things
  • He is holding all things together (like the universe? atoms?)
  • He is the head of the church which is his body
  • He was the first to rise to eternal life but won’t be the last
  • All of God’s everything is overjoyed to live in Jesus
  • He fixes (reconciles) everything that is broken
  • He did it by dying on the cross

Alright, I don’t think there’s a job that Jesus could possibly be under qualified for! You know, that might be part of the problem a lot of Christ followers have. We forget about the amazing resume of Jesus and we give him a lesser role in our lives than what he deserves.

As we read earlier, Jesus claimed to be, “The Way, The Truth, and The Life.” He’s more than a carpenter, more than a good teacher. He’s the savior and ruler of the world. But have you let him truly rule your life?

Something that’s so amazing about someone with this impressive of a resume is that he’s also totally personable. So, let’s put the resume down, step out of the hiring office and get to know Jesus.
